Double Glazing
Double Glazed Units with soft coat low e coatings and Argon filled with black warm edge technology spacer bar as standard (other aluminium colours not warm edge available) with unlimited options and designs available such as patterned, obscure, lead work, sand blasting, raised bevels, coloured film designs, fused tiles, internal Georgian Bars, external Astragal Bars.
Our windows and doors comply with current building regulations and we will put toughened where required to comply “all doors and any windows within 300mm of a door and any windows below 800mm from finished floor level”, with supply only windows it is the customer’s responsibility to provide the correct information so our windows comply with the current building regulations.

Triple Glazing
Triple glazing is a window that has three panes of glass instead of two, which increases the thermal efficiency and reduces noise pollution. Modern double-glazed windows generally have a uvalue of around 1.5 which is achieved through improved manufacturing methods, including optimisation of the window cavity, low emissivity coatings using inert gas to fill the gap, and using aluminium spacers or ‘cold bridges’.

Clear & Flat
Bairds Windows follows the Glass and Glass Federations Guidelines and the following procedure. The obtrusiveness of blemishes is judged by looking through the glass, not at it, under natural light. It must be understood that the glass used in double glazing is a processed glass, and so therefore, blemishes are to be expected. Standing 2 meters away (3mtrs for toughened, laminated and coated glass) or as far as you can if 2 meters is not possible, look directly through the glass not at it in natural light but not direct sunlight with no visible moisture on the surface of the glass at a 90° Angle to the window. It is acceptable to see bubbles/ blisters, fine scratches not more than 25mm long or minute particles providing they are neither obtrusive nor bunched; smears, finger prints, material, dirt are not acceptable.

Toughened Glass
Toughened glass due to the process of toughening may show some visual distortions this will not affect the window performance and Laminated glass is made up of several layers so may have a few more blemished than clear flat glass. Low emissivity coating can in some conditions look like the glass is hazed or cloudy this is normal. Patterned glass is manufactured differently so the above does not apply.

Condensation
Internal condensation is caused due to high humidity levels with in the house this is caused by breathing, cooking, washing up, bathrooms, laundry, wet outdoor clothing, heaters, indoor plants and the drying out period of a new build.
External condensation this is caused by the glass being energy efficient and keeping the heat in with the outer pane being colder than the dew point outside it will dissipate quickly as the temperature rises.
Condensation in between the two panes of glass means that the seal around the double glazed unit has failed and needs to be replaced.
